Sambit Mohapatra Joins BrightWave

So finally Tata Interactive's sales superstar has moved on! This one was interesting enough for me to post here.

"Sambit Mohapatra appointed Sales and Marketing Director to drive UK and European growth

BrightWave announces today that Sambit Mohapatra will join its Management Board as Director of Sales and Marketing on 4 April 2005. Previously Senior Vice President at Tata Interactive Systems for UK & Europe, Sambit joins BrightWave at a time of rapid growth and will lead the company’s market presence in the UK and Europe."

... Charles Gould, Managing Director for BrightWave, added: "Sambit brings a highly impressive track record of building business in the UK and Europe and he will be driving sales to support our ambitious plans for growth and expansion of the products and services we offer."

The Learned Man wishes Sambit all the best for his new assignment! :)

*June 15, 2005: Taking Sambit's place is Alan Samuel, who has been appointed as the UK head of operations at Tata Interactive Systems. Alan has big shoes to fill, managing Tata's UK based 20 member team and trying to keep up the tempo against ever increasing competition in the UK.

The eLearning Queen Blog

Here's what The eLearning Queen had to say about The Learned Man Blog:

The Learned Man! -- http://elearning.typepad.com/A unique perspective is provided by focusing on the Indian e-learning community. This is an area of great potential, with amazingly fruitful discussions and linkages available. Needless to say, the notion of open source and shared innovation is pushed to the limit here. A recent discussion addresses the shortage of trained instructional designers (and, in parallel form, the shortage of robust instructional design training overseas). The uncomfortable reality is that most formal ID programs are 3 - 5 years behind the times. Granted, fundamentals do not change; but in my opinion, it is pretty irresponsible of educational institutions to offer instructional technology and design courses that do not incorporate the latest research, trends, evolving needs, or software/systems. As in the case of video game designers, the best ones tend to be multi-disciplinary and self-taught, or receive training within the development company itself, which is an issue fraught with its own intellectual property & ethics dilemmas.

"The E-Learning Queen explores all manner of online and distributed training and education, from instructional design to the construction and implementation of entire e-learning solutions. "

Is the Nightmare Finished?

The biggest eLearning companies on the NASDAQ

New York, February 2005 – A glance at the latest quarterly results and the development of the shares of those eLearning companies quoted on the NASDAQ manifests a situation between hope and fear. Saba and SumTotal Systems showed a positive tendency. Blackboard had good results, yet it still has to struggle with capricious shareholders. Centra’s yearly results were disappointing and additionally the company has not come up with a clear forecast for 2005. Skillsoft tumbled sharply.
